Zones of Regulation

2nd May 2022 By angelaritson

Some pupils participated in a lesson with Miss Bonas in order to understand the ‘Zones of Regulation’. This involved learning about the 4 different zones (blue, green, yellow, red) and the feelings that are associated with each zone. We then talked about ways we can support ourselves when we experience different emotions, e.g. by going for a walk, talking to somebody, taking deep breaths or counting down from 10. The children had lots of fun exploring the different zones and will be working on developing their own Zones of Regulation ‘toolkit’ to support them with their emotional regulation. One of the main things we discussed in this session is that all emotions are valid, it’s about how we deal with them that is important.
