In assembly, Mrs Simpson-May set the whole school different challenges based on our learning in RE around the theme of Easter. We then came together in a whole school assembly last week to share our learning and what we have all found out. Year 3 were asked to find out about the question ‘What do Christians remember on Palm Sunday?’ and produced amazing palm trees with reflection leaves. Year 4 looked at the question ‘Why is Lent such as important period for Christians?’ The children shared their learning and talked about Lent being a time of preparation and reflection and that by observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians remember Jesus’ sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert. Year 5 focused on the Last Supper and re-enacted the last meal Jesus had before he died. They thought about the emotions the disciples would have felt and what it would have been like to have been there. Year 6 explored the question ‘Why are Good Friday and Easter Sunday the most important days for Christians?’ The children began by reflecting on different feelings by listening to music, and comparing emotions associated with the different pieces. We then linked this to the emotions behind Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We completed research where we all had different questions to answer to find out about these two important days for the church. We then created a tree of hope to reflect on our own experiences.
Well done for the fabulous, thoughtful and creative learning which has taken place.
