Children within Nurture group worked as a team to read and follow instructions to make a crumble. This linked to our topic of the Gruffalo and finished it off nicely. We enjoyed eating it afterwards for our snack!
The Bebras Challenge
Pupils throughout school have been taking part in practising for The Bebras Challenge. The challenge is made up of a set of short problems called Bebras tasks and are delivered online. The tasks are fun, engaging and based on problems that Computer Scientists often meet and enjoy solving. The pupils worked together to solve the problems, to help achieve a high score, ready for the actual challenge in the following weeks!
Nurture Principles
Over the previous few sessions, among other activities, children within the group have set themselves a target to achieve which has gone towards creating out beautiful display. As well as thinking of their own target, the children helped create the Nurture Principles that we typed and coloured on to clouds finishing our display nicely. Well done everyone!
4C Insect Art
Year 4 have been studying Insect Art this term. We have studied and thought carefully about Insect Art of real artists such as Jenifer Angus. We sketched our own insects from photographs looking closely at detail and then used colour to enhance our sketches. Lastly, we produced models of insects using modelling clay and again looking carefully at photographs to ensure we were as accurate as possible.
Interactive Maths
5H have started their work on angles and shape this week and have enjoyed using some interactive whiteboard games to check their ability to use a protractor. We worked in pairs to identify whether angles were acute, right angle, obtuse or reflex and then checked these using the interactive whiteboard. It really helped us to further develop our estimating skills and how to effectively use a protractor to measure angles.
Yoga!
This half term, Y5 have been taking part in an after school Yoga Club. We worked our way through several different routines, being instructed to follow the yoga movements in a sequence. We ended each session with ‘meditation time’ which allowed us to chill, relax and zone out. It was the first time the majority of us had taken part in Yoga and we were excellent at it! We got to enjoy our last session outside in the sun which was fantastic!
