Our amazing Magic Maths winners for this week are:
4C: Charlie Ann
Well done and congratulations to you all!
5H enjoyed taking part in a planet treasure hunt, we made a model to show that the solar system is heliocentric and finally we travelled to Mars with Now Press Play and learned all about day and night.
After correctly answering questions relating to Newsround, we were the first class to play on our newly refurbished playground. We all had a fantastic time – thank you Mrs Caine.
Article 28: You have the right to an education.
In our Mission to Mars, 5C pupils were introduced to Neil Armstrong, the first man on the Moon, and Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space. They had to maintain a space shuttle while being the first humans to walk on Mars, where there’s less gravity. Excitingly, children searched, with their peers, for signs of life on Mars before having to knock a meteorite (that was heading for Earth) off course! Luckily, we all survived the 300 day journey to the Red Planet and all made it back safely. Great fun enjoyed by all!
Article 24: You have the right to the best health care possible.
We are delighted to announce the official amount that was raised at the recent Macmillan event organised by a parent.
A huge £4253.38 was raised to help support cancer care and treatment.
School feel incredibly proud that our staff and children contributed to the final total and would like to say a huge thank you for our special treats- we really appreciate them!
Article 29: You have the right to develop your individual talents.
This week, Year 6 played their final week of games in the rugby league. Every school plays each other in the league once. In our final league game, the score was CHJS 5-8 Escomb.
After this game the organisers calculated the scores up, 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th etc. At this point we were in 7th place, so we would play 8th placed St Wilfs. The score from this game was CHJS 6-0 St Wilfs.
The organisers then calculated the scores again ready for the final game. Here we were still placed in 7th place. This time we played against Woodhouse. The score from this game was CHJS 7-8 Woodhouse.
Overall, we finished in 7th place. This is a fantastic achievement after such a short time training for the league.
Here is what some of our players had to say:
“I loved tag rugby. I liked every single thing about it.” Luca 6H
“Best after school club ever!” Ben 6C
“I liked rugby because I got lots of exercise and I got Captain.” Olivia-Jane 6C
“I have enjoyed tag rugby because I’ve gotten better at it than before.” Sunni 6H
