As a school we pride ourselves on our motto ‘Being the Best We Can Be’ and underpinning this motto we have the 6 core values of determination, passion, self-belief, teamwork, honesty and respect.
These values and our school ethos mean that we work together with our pupils, governors, staff and families to ensure that children in our school reach their full potential. Children are rewarded with certificates when they positively demonstrate these values within their learning, behaviour and attitude. These could be recognised within the classroom, the corridors, at break times, lunch times, visits – everything to do with school and at all times!
Children are awarded a Gold Star for every 3 certificates they have achieved. Following this they are awarded a special gift for achieving 9 certificates and are then awarded a special badge once they achieve a total of 18 certificates. Children wear gold stars on their uniform with pride.
Achieve and Believe Assembly
We all look forward to Monday morning assembly when we come together to celebrate our achievements throughout the previous week. We celebrate successes and achievements from in and outside of school. We also hear about the achievements of the sports teams. Some children come and demonstrate their talents for us. Certificates and gold star awards are given out within Achieve and Believe assembly. These celebrations are recorded on the weekly newsletter to share with families and friends.
Each Monday the attendance is read out in percentage measure for each class. Our children are very competitive and enjoy winning! The winning class takes our trophy to class for the week. It is important that everyone tries to get to school each day on time so their class can win the trophy! At the end of each term children are rewarded for 100% attendance across that term.
All pupils are placed in a team on the theme of Castles represented by colours – Auckland, Barnard, Raby and Witton. These are represented by red, blue, green and yellow. Children can earn team points for any aspect of positive behaviour and attitudes in school. Team points can be given by any member of staff including the office staff, lunchtime supervisors, cooks, cleaners and caretaker.
Every week the team points are totalled and read out in Achieve and Believe assembly. The team who scores the most points over the half term earns a reward for their team members!
End of Term Reward
Across the school term there are many rewards for pupils but when a term comes to a close we like to celebrate big achievements too. This takes many forms and can be an end of term disco at Christmas, a school play performance, a prize for 100% attendance or an award for always setting a good example. These are over and above regular rewards such as certificates and team points.
