Our Commitment to our Community
We support a range of charities and think it important to help others where we can. We enjoy fund raising and work with the Friends of the School and the school council to organise events. School Council consult with pupils to select the charities we are going to support.
Children In Need
We raised £203.21 for Children in Need from our super hero day on Friday 14th November.
Barnardo’s
We raised £728.76 for Barnardo’s throughout our Care and Share week.
Red Nose Day
We raised £342 for Red Nose Day. We all made our faces funny for money!
ChildLine and NSPCC
We held an assembly in October and we heard about the work of the NSPCC. We also found out how we could get help if we thought we needed to let somone know we had a problem.
Then we raised £2,374.59 through a mini olympics event. We all had great fun and raised funds for a good cause at the same time!
Remembrance Day
Every year we sell poppies and raise funds for Remembrance Day on 11th November. This year the school council decided poppies should cost 50p each.
We raised £47.10 and received a letter of thanks from the Royal British Legion. The money is used to look after veterans of the armed forces.
Butterwick Hospice
Before Christmas every year we enjoy selling and buying Christmas soft toys at £1 each in aid of the Butterwick hospice in Bishop Auckland. This charity serves our local community and cares for people who are very ill and their families.
This year there were four choices of toys-a snowman, a penguin, a reindeer and a polar bear- so cute! we sold them all and raised £354.00.
Shoe Box Appeal
We sent 38 Christmas boxes to children in war torn countries through the Samaritan Purse Appeal.
We enjoyed making up the boxes with small gifts to try to make someone’s Christmas a bit more special. Next year we want to send 100 boxes!
